Can OpenAI Dots be our customer support?
Do not use it as the support window customers can see. If you use it, keep it inside an account the company can open, and use it for internal drafts.
On 29 September 2026 OpenAI introduced dots. Each one has a cloud computer and may keep working when you leave the chat. Pro and Business Premium roll out first. Enterprise waits for an admin, and the default is off. The product page says specialist dots are a limited pilot: responsibilities and review come first. This is not a support button on the site or on a LINE official account.
A buyer who asks where an order is expects the official account or the form, and an answer that matches your system. If the dot sits in someone’s personal ChatGPT, the company has no record of the reply. Next day they say you promised a discount, and you cannot see who pressed send. So the first answer is no: do not put a Dots link on the site and call it support.
Internal use stays narrow. It may read approved answers and draft a reply. A person pastes that reply back into LINE. It does not hold the send key. Refunds, address changes, and price changes stay out of its tools. How the admin switch is set is leave it off until an admin enables it. The clicks are not repeated here.
No Enterprise plan means an employee’s personal plan does not fill the gap. Whether that plan’s chats train a model depends on their setting, not on your security rule. Support mail, shipping sheets, and member exports stay out. Same family of risk as work mail on a personal account.
If buyers should ask on LINE, hear your prices and dates, and confirm before anything is written, that is a different product. Opening Dots does not create it. The scope on the service page is approved knowledge, a confirm before a write, and a handoff when unsure. Dots can stay on private research and drafts. The public window stays separate.
A customer who uses their own dot to message you is a different case. “Cancel the order,” pasted into your official account by their agent, still needs a confirm on the email stored with the order. You do not owe an answer to a cloud computer you cannot see. That rule is their AI is not a signature.
If a trial has already started, do one thing this week. Open the tool list and see whether Gmail, payments, or the ads account are connected. Disconnect the ones that are. If what remains only reads the service page you already published, the risk is smaller, because that page was already public. A private customer sheet is not a public page. Do not leave it on that list.
Two uses people propose
Sales wants a ChatGPT link in the email signature labeled 24-hour support. Do not add it. Phone numbers and order ids would land in a chat the company cannot audit. Use the form or the official account.
The other request comes from a support lead who already has a company workspace. They want a dot to turn unanswered mail into a list every hour, and they do not want it to reply by itself. That use can be discussed. The list goes into a file the team can open. The person on duty still sends the reply. The automatic reply switch stays off.
Questions
Will Dots show up inside our LINE account?
Not by itself. A dot lives in ChatGPT and the tools you connect. The official account is a separate build, with its own knowledge and handoff.
If an employee replies to customers from a personal plan, is that company support?
No. The company cannot see or shut off that chat. Customer details in a personal account cannot be deleted as a batch later.
What about after Enterprise is enabled?
Still write what it may read and what it may not write. How the switch is set is the 2 October note. An admin turning it on does not mean it may change orders.
